privacy notice

Whepo is an Atbit app for adults 18 and older. It lets people verify their own phone number, privately like another number, and see a match only when both people independently like each other.

What we collect

We collect the phone number you verify, the phone numbers you enter for likes, blocks, or reports, and the resulting private relationship records. Firebase processes phone authentication and Google Cloud stores Whepo’s encrypted phone-number records and relationship data. Cloudflare delivers the app. We use this data only to operate Whepo, prevent abuse, and review safety reports. We do not sell it or use advertising analytics.

What other people see

Your incoming count, outgoing likes, and blocks are private. A mutual match reveals the matched phone numbers to each other. A person is never told that someone liked, blocked, reported, or searched for their number. Whepo never says whether a number is registered. Timing and outside knowledge can still let people make guesses.

Messages and permissions

The only outbound SMS is a verification code a person requests for their own number. Whepo sends no invitations, signup notices, like alerts, match alerts, emails, or push notifications. The native apps do not request contacts, camera, microphone, location, notification, SMS-read, or tracking permissions. iOS may receive a silent system verification notification solely to secure Firebase phone sign-in; it produces no user-visible alert.

Choices and deletion

You can remove a like, block a number, report a number, sign out, or delete your account in the app. Deletion removes your active account, likes, matches, and blocks after a fresh phone-code check. A minimal tombstone prevents an old session from restoring the account; encrypted backups expire on a rolling seven-day schedule. Someone else’s block of your number remains so they retain their protection.

Phone-number changes

Phone verification proves current access, not a person’s identity. If a number changes owners, the new holder may be able to use its phone-only account. Delete your account before giving up a number. Never treat a match as proof of identity.
